YAS & Yamato Global Logistics Go to the Next Step

From April 5, 2010, Yusen Air & Sea Service Co., Ltd. (President: Shunichi Yano) and Yamato Global Logistics Japan Co., Ltd. (herein after YGL / President: Shinichi Tsukamoto) began to jointly manage the ground handling of air freight exports of YGL in the Narita area at the logistics facilities of YAS.

 

On March 21, 2008, YAS and YGL signed a letter of intent to establish integrated management of air forwarding operations, to help strengthen the strategic alliance between the Nippon Yusen Group and the Yamato Group.

 

As part of this initiative, from April 5, 2010, the two companies began the ground handling of air freight exports of YGL in the Narita area, at "YAS NARITA Logistics Center". (The details are as below.)

By conducting the ground handling (compatible to EDI (* Note 1)) for air freight exports in the Narita area, along with co-loading already introduced with the ability to deal with ULD (*2), we will enhance our "global supply chain logistics" and seek to provide our customers with even more sophisticated logistics services.

EDI: EDI stands for "electronic data interchange," a system in which information associated with commercial transactions is integrated into a standard format, and exchanged electronically among companies
* Note 2
ULD: ULD stands for "unit load device," a general term for equipment, such as containers and pallets, which are used to consolidate air freights into one unit, and load them into the cargo compartments of airplanes
