Enhance Services to the Next Level

Yusen Air & Sea Service Co., Ltd. (President: Shunichi Yano; "YAS," hereafter) and Panalpina World Transport (Japan) Ltd. (Representative Director Japan : Andreas Behnke; "Panalpina," hereafter) are pleased to announce that the following changes will be made to the Panalpina agency operational structure in relation to international transport, in the interests of providing even better convenience to customers in Japan.

Air Export Operation
Entrusted to YAS
Panalpina (in-house handling system)
      Start time:
         Upon Panalpina's acquisition of an IATA agency license and Freight Forwarder License
         (operations scheduled to commence in early 2010)
     
Air Import Operation
Entrusted to YAS
Entrusted to YAS@ (partial in-house handling system)

      Start time:
         Service structure scheduled for change around early 2010.
         Break bulk and freight collection services will continue to be consigned to YAS as a Panalpina agency.

     
Ocean Export Operation
Entrusted to YAS
Panalpina (in-house handling system)
      Start time:
         Upon acquisition of a Freight Forwarder License
         (operations scheduled to commence by the end of 2009).
     
Ocean Import Operation
Entrusted to YAS
Panalpina (in-house handling system)
      Start time:
         Scheduled for November 1, 2009.

 

Since February 1, 2007, the YAS Group and Panalpina Group have concluded a comprehensive agreement on mutual cooperation with respect to worldwide freight forwarding. YAS has been entrusted with agency services in Japan in relation to Panalpina's air and sea transportation, and likewise, YAS has entrusted Panalpina with agency services in specific regions.

Following the changes to the handling system outlined above, YAS intends to continue offering services including export & import customs clearance, domestic transportation & delivery and logistics facilities to Panalpina and Panalpina's customers alike, under its alliance with Panalpina. Moreover, YAS plans to maintain its overseas agency agreements with each of the Panalpina Group companies across 23 countries, and further enhance services that use the network of the Panalpina Group.
