


Until now, China has requested the submission of a variety of certificates depending on the type of wood used for the packaging materials for imported goods from Japan, the United States, EU, and South Korea as objects of restrictions.

However, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China announced the Rules on Quarantine, Supervision and Administration of Wood packing used for Import Goods (draft) in December 2003, and, subsequently, issued the Notification of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China, General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, State Forestry Administration No. 11 as of January 31, 2005, and announced the introduction of new restrictions on the import of wood packing materials based on the Guideline for Regulating Wood packing Materials in International Trade (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15) effective from January 1, 2006. Based on the above new restrictions, all wood packing materials must be treated with predetermined method of disinfection and specific mark must be affixed to the treated packaging materials.
